Halifax and Nova Scotia are particularly proud of our military history, stemming back to our foundations in 1749. Today Military personnel play an important role in the fabric of our city and country and so we have created an opportunity to treat them and their families to an evening out to enjoy this international sporting event and showcase to the world our appreciation for their service/ contributions to Nova Scotia, Canada and the world.
Not to be forgotten, our local First Responders also serve our community in ways that most of the citizens take for granted. They all play a role in protecting and aiding in times of crisis. In appreciation for their risks, efforts and dedication we are also offering them time to relax and enjoy a worry free evening as we take the time to also appreciate their service/ contributions to our city.
Were would we be if it were not for the many volunteers, staff, employees and customers of our organizations and businesses. Most times we get so busy we fail to publicly appreciate their time, talent and treasure. We have created Appreciation Night as a way of collectively extending a BIG "group hug" to these important and valuable people in our life.
If you know of a volunteer who gives relentlessly, and employee or staff person that goes above their call of duty, a customer who is forever loyal or a person/people who is/er deserving of appreciation, then this night is meant for them.
